Demonstration of Space Planning

This acrylic model was a space planning exercise. The objective was to demonstrate the various ways that planes can work together to define space within a space. in addition, the vertical planes inside the first and second floors also create an intuitive path of direction as well as places of rest along the way.

The goal for this project was to use the existing dimensions of an upscale hotel room in Chicago and create two gender specific rooms using motifs that our cultural defines as masculine and feminine.

The following drawings are of an existing ski lodge in California. By recreating these complex elevations and floor plans, I was able to hone my hand drafting and rendering skills. All of the drawings were done with light line in graphite, then rendered with two layers of color pencil, marker, then another layer of color pencil.
