Portfolio Work
The Beach House was a project where we practiced our hand-drafting skills and graphite rendering. To keep the look of the rendering clean, all the pencil strokes had to be going the same way to keep it cohesive. It was also very important to not smudge and work with clean hands to keep the rest of the drawing clean. The rendering for this project was one of the easier ones for me to do because I was familiar with graphite.
The Lodge project was our final project for the class. It definitely was a lot of work and took a lot of time especially with the medium that was used. It was hand-drafted and then rendered with marker and colored pencil. It was crucial to keep all the strokes of the pencil going the same way and the pencil to always be sharp to keep a clean looking rendering. It was obviously more tedious than any of the other projects because of the size of it all. The end result of it was definitely worth it, seeing all the hard work and long hours I put into it really paid off.
The Bubbles Restaurant Project was a space planning project. We focused on the overall design of the restaurant and designed accordingly. In this project we practiced hand-drafting, marker rendering, and model making skills. The model for this project was a white model and was created using museum board and foam core. This project was very tedious, building all of the furniture pieces from scratch. Precision was very important for laying it all out. I had to make sure that all of the pieces were put in the exact right place.

Demonstration of Space Planning
This acrylic model was a space planning exercise. The objective was to demonstrate the various ways that planes can work together to define space within a space. in addition, the vertical planes inside the first and second floors also create an intuitive path of direction as well as places of rest along the way.
The goal for this project was to use the existing dimensions of an upscale hotel room in Chicago and create two gender specific rooms using motifs that our cultural defines as masculine and feminine.

The following drawings are of an existing ski lodge in California. By recreating these complex elevations and floor plans, I was able to hone my hand drafting and rendering skills. All of the drawings were done with light line in graphite, then rendered with two layers of color pencil, marker, then another layer of color pencil.
